main pilot jet was created by gengomerpyle
i just removed the float bowls on my BS34's. i notices on #4 carb that the main pilot jet plug has a hole in it and all the others dont. is it something that should be replaced and will it cause me problems? how hard is it to remove if i need to replace it?

Can you take the picture from further back so it's not quite so blury?

Doesn't seem right, whatever is going on. But I've never worked on the BS34's either.

You need to replace that as the pilot jet gets gas off the main jet on your carbs. Z1Enterprises sells rubber plugs. The o rings get hard on the metal caps.

i just called my local kawasaki dealer and they are special order items so i guess i'll drive down and order them since i have to pay first. i did order a inline fuel filter and clear fuel line from Z1 since the bike never had a filter. from what i read on an old post in forums that running it like this with a hole in plug will cause my bike to run rich, which maybe what was causing it to run rich in the past. thanks for the advice.

I looks as if someone tried to remove it and failed. I usally drill or punch a hole in them and pry them out. Roy

yeah that is what i was thinking also. i dont know the history on the bike prior to me buying it so i have no clue what was done. i can tell the carbs were worked on at some point since the float bowl gaskets looked just about new before i sprayed them with carb cleaner and i just removed 1 slide and it looks like the old owner put a stage 3 kit in them. im just hoping in can get the plug out. i should have all the parts next week (i hope anyways).

i also noticed that the vent tube between carbs 3 and 4 spins/moves really easily but the one between carbs 1 and 2 is tighter. will the vent tube between 3 and 4 leak gas from tube if its loose? i see on the parts diagram shows a o-ring. could it be broken since it moves so easily?

I wouldn worry too much about a vent. Maybe when you get the carbs sorted out and you have some down time and want to bust the rack. Roy
