talking to a guy who wants to buy my 83 750gpz engine complete but i have a carb that the float sticks and leaks out the overflow. anyway i know certain carbs can be expensive to get parts for and certain carbs can be worth more money etc.., I know nothing about the various carbs and combinations. I have no clue what carbs I have. any help on this matter would be appreciated

Gasoline discharge from the overflows more often results from a float valve issue (such as crud at the interface between the float needle tip and the float seat) as opposed to a "sticking" float.
Might possibly result from a worn float valve, or a float tang setting that allows a far too high fuel level, but these causes are less likely, imo.
Sometimes able to clean the float valve by using SeaFoam in the fuel. Or opening the drain and allowing fuel to flow through the carb and from the bowl in hopes that it may clean the float valve.
Another possibility is a crack in the overflow tube (which is often repairable).
While the engine is at idle rpm, could try rapping smartly against the subject carb's float bowl with a plastic hammer or large screw driver handle. Which might jar, loosen and flush away any crud at the interface.
When the float itself is "sticking," such condition would generally not happen out of the blue, but likely result from the float apparatus being bent or damaged when being removed or re-assembled into the carb.
A "leaking" or "sunk" float could also result in overflow, because the float then fails to rise up and close the float valve (press the float needle into its seat).
Good Fortune!

Pretty much a std BS34 CV Mikuni thats jetted different with different needles, air jets & pilot jets. That and its painted black, at least my 82 GPZ750 is. Nothing a cleaning and checking the float level wont cure on yours Im sure. At the most a new needle & seat maybe but I doubt it. Spin some light valve grinding compound between them if it isnt rubber tipped
