Cleaning Mikuni manual slide pilot circuit
20 Nov 2011 00:21
Here's a pretty decent method for cleaning the pilot circuit in a Mikuni manual slide carburetor.
A pressurized canister of carb cleaner spray is used.
Pressurized air from an air compressor is also very helpful, but not essential.
The basic idea is to clear all the pilot circuit passages to achieve a correct fuel mixture entering the bore through the orifice in the bottom of the bore.
Remember to wear eye protection while spraying, because the spray always backfires, always.
Good Fortune!

The same method may be adapted toward cleaning the pilot circuit in a manual slide carb having a bottom-located pilot mixture screw, which carb has two orifices admitting fuel mixture into the carb bore.
Good Fortune!

Patton, your tutorials are outstanding. I just went through this cleaning procedure this weekend. The only difficulty is getting fingers to cover up some of those holes, like #4 since it is recessed. #6 is kind of hard too. Anyways, the cleaning drill gets the carbs working right!
