What is this pilot jet???? was created by Gary - K7GLD
I'm going thru the carbs (BS34's) on my '83 KZ1100LTD, trying to eliminate an over-rich low speed issue - and here's the pilot jet that came out of the one I am starting with:

That number, with the weird box symbol I've penciled in above the carb, is nothing like I've seen in the Kawasaki shop manual - the bike has pods and a 4/1 Kerker exhaust from the previous owner, as well as 130 main jets. I'm wondering if an aftermarket carb kit for the pods and exhaust might have been installed - and the pilot jet pictured is some sort of aftermarket number from that kit - and if so, what in an OEM pilot jet might it cross reference with?

That is not the Pilot Low Speed Jet. That is the Needle Jet, and it Emulsion tube. Mid range along with the Needle taper.
Pilot jet is in the hole just next to where you took off the main jet to remove the part you have shown us.

YUP. as I too discovered after posting - thanks guys...

Turns out, my pilot jet is a #40, instead of the #37.5 called for - I have new replacement 37.5's on the way - hopefully, that will cure my over-rich idle and low speed issue... :)

Most references I've seen, relate to a RUBBER plug covering the pilot jet port - mine was an O-ringed aluminum plug - and an absolute bitch to get ahold of and pull...

I went up from the 37.5 Pilots to 40's. Makes the bike run a bit better on the low speed, gets off the choke a bit quicker on a cold start. Fuel economy is good, idle mixture screws are set very close to Factory @1-3/4 turns. Those alloy plugs with the O-ring are needed as the carb is designed to pull the fuel from the main circuit over to the Pilot jet. I heard of them running rich if this plug is left out. But I've never verified that myself.
