No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThis is too funny. I saw those carbs on ebay and emailed the guy selling them to inform him that were in fact 73/74 carbs. He insists that they are (in his mind) 29's (which they are not) and to just lay off his case. I love the ad "I have been rebuilding and tuning these carburetors since the late 70's early 80's back in my dads bike shop" really?? They are even put together out of order, the mixture screws face the wrong way.

Yup, those are 28's from a Z1. Valuable carbs, but not 29's. Here's a couple of pics of my set of smoothbores:

They should have the little square cast into the body just above the float bowl. Also you should be able to look in the bore when the slides are up and see this guy. It's the jet block.

I hadn't looked at the ebay ad until this morning. All that page long BS typed in red at the bottom of his ad is a sure sign of a dodgy deal. It also appears to be the only actual set of carburetors that he has for sale. He has three pages of auctions listed, but they are all for carburetor "service." It wouldn't stop me from buying those carbs if they were a fair price, but I have seen those carbs go for $350-$400 many times. $700 is too much IMO. He's just waiting for his sucker to come along. I'm sure someone might hit the BIN one night on a drunken ebay binge.

He clearly is proving his expertise with this listing...

Not only does he identify the carbs wrongly, but he cannot even assemble them correctly... amazing

Worse, he's adamant he is correct... and pretending to be a skilled person with 30+ years of experience... hmm....

I'm curious how he replaced all the o-rings, jets and float needle valve assemblies - none of the 29mm smoothbore parts will work on these carbs...

Would you trust him to rebuild your carbs?

martin_csr wrote: Just wondering... I see in the ebbaayy listing that he's measuring them w a caliper: Is that the correct place to take the measurement? I'm asking because VM24 carbs measure ~26mm at the engine side opening but 24mm inside the carb bore near the slides. Perhaps that's why he's confused?

carb bore is where u measure
and there's no confusion there, just pure BS
