'79 KZ650B3: Vm24s vs CV carbs?

Currently running VM24s w/accelerator pump
Carbs have had kits put in them, been gone through multiple times, by multiple people; never been able to get them quite right. The first time they were gone through, the guy said one of the carbs was bad, and replaced it with another one, so they're no longer a matched set. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, or not. He also said something about wear on the slides, but he did such a terrible job on them I discounted everything he said, and it's been so long, I've forgotten.
Fitty, my 50.00 parts bike, is an '81 650 LTD. I'd assumed the carbs were also VM24s, but looking closely at them, it is clear they are different. Would that make them CV carbs?
I've read the CV carbs are better, but really expensive to rebuild if the diaphragms are bad.
Assuming the diaphragms are good, and assuming both were working properly, would I see a difference upgrading to the CV carbs? If so, what would the benefits be?

They may be better of worse just depending on what you can do with them.
Generally a CV carb will have smoother throttle response (not necessarily better), better fuel mileage for sure (when setup correxctly), and they are more tolerant to atmospheric changes like temp/humidity/pressure, etc.
Cheers.

The title doesn't list a build month.
And it doesn't really matter to me what it is. The title says it's an LTD, so I called it an LTD.
