Mikuni BS34 as fitted to KZ750-P1 750cc GT was created by mikiboy
Trying to restore a 1984 750 GT (P1) am in need of replacement carbs as originals have been damaged. I was told that BS34 as fitted to GPZ 750 would work but are dreadful. Are s/h originals available or is there an alternative which is suitable ?

The BS34 set on a GPz750 are no more dreadful than the ones than came stock (Mikuni BS34) on your P1. One of the reasons the BS34 have acquired such a bad reputation is that they are difficult to adjust with pods (replacing the stock air intake system). Normally, in a stock set-up, the BS34 should be fine...just duplicate the settings (including needle, jets, etc.) and retain your stock air intake system and the issues should be minimal.
