Keihin throttle shaft seals? was created by radon220
My KZ440 has a pair of Keihin CV carbs that have given me trouble since the day I put the bike together. My problem now involves false air, which is leaking in by the throttle shafts (between the carbs). As long as I've had the carbs, there has not been a seal of any sort there. Unfortunately the FSM and the parts catalog do not explode to that detail... the throttle shafts are simply part of the carb assembly! If I pack around the shafts with heavy grease, I get a great couple short ride out of it before the air finds its way in again.

Does anyone know if there should be a seal there, what it should look like, and what material?

The above picture shows the two throttle shafts... sorry they look connected, that's just poor photography. They're actually at 90 degrees to each other. Also I'm 99% certain an o-ring won't work here... but possibly a rubber/fabric/leather seal of some sort... maybe a cup seal??
