Jelly! was created by Proxy
Suddenly my bike started to run funky. Then it died. So I took off the carb bank and dropped a bowl. Inside I found Napalm. Jellied gas. A bunch of it. Is this a result of Ethanol?

As my father would have said "GOOD MORNING VIETNAM! I LOVE THE SMELL OF NAPALM IN THE MORNING!".

Take it from me cuz I found
If you leave it then somebody else is bound,
To find that treasure, that moment of pleasure,
When yours, it could have been.

Looks like that stuff from Alaska!

Do you or maybe I should ask "did you used to" have a coating applied to the inside of your tank?

If this is your daily rider then that really doesn't make sense for that to build up like that from crap-enol.

Thats just it. The tank was not lined and the carbs were squeaky clean two weeks ago. When it started ratting out I saw rust in my gas filter. So I drained the tank and there was rust in the seams. A lot of rust both flaky and sludge. So I cleaned out the tank. Etched it and Red Koted it. Then I removed the carbs and found the jelly. It sat for two weeks as I was busy! I figure it for a chemical reaction but at most I put a little Seafoam in the tank of gas. Never seen gas turn that bad that fast.

Take it from me cuz I found

I believe the gas/alcohol mix is probably the worst idea from our Goverment in qite a while. Who's idea was it to grow corn to be made in to alcohol & then mixed with gas? It takes away the rational idea of growing food crops for human comsumption and it implies the farmer can make $$$ by growing corn for alcohol. I think E-10,E-15, & E85 mixes were mandated by the EPA when our congress applied pressure on them due to the public not embracing the mix, leaving the farmers with tanks of unsold alcohol.

The gas/alcohol mix is very corrosive to fuel system parts like Nyon & rubber hoses and has caused more than a few car fires. It take more energy to create it than gasoline does and also reduces the mileage when compared to just gas by itself.....

What ever it is, at least with carbs you can clean it out fairly easily. That crap would make a mess of an Injection system,
