KZ650 jetting for 4 into 1 & pods? was created by elcid
I have a KZ650 with a 4 into 1 exhaust with not much of a baffle (the bike is still pretty loud) - just some sort of cap type thing over the end with holes in it. I also have pod filters.
It needs to be rejetted as it is real bubbly and not much torque in the lower end of the power band. It's slow to get off the line unless I rev it up real high. Also I have to Have to turn the choke all the way up & give it gas for 5 minutes or so when I start it form a cold engine.
My question is which jets should I change & what size jets should I switch to?

If it was mine I would toss the pods, put the airbox back on, and ride. However, since you are unlikely to do that you need to specify which model KZ650 you are working on or you may get wrong advice. Different year KZ650s had different carbs. Ed

What is your setup right now?? To me it sounds like you have it too rich. I was actually having problems with the bike breaking up and it took forever to warm it up. I had the clip on the needle 2nd from the bottom. I changed them 2nd from the top and it worked out well and I have pods. I do have the original exhaust still which I plan on getting rid of.

Not sure what you mean by "set-up".

What year is your bike? What jets do you currently have in it right now? What position is the clip on the needle? How many turns are your airscrews ??
