Accelerator pump..US ONLY? was created by vintage1000
Good afternoon guys, Recently bought an 80 model KZ-1000 A4 full dress.Bike is pristeen for its age.Got the FSM,and have a question...On #2 Carb, there is (whats left of) an accelerator pump.
There is NO linkage, nor is there an arm attached. The FSM advises that the accelerator pump is for "U.S." only.I have looked all over the throttle assy, and while I do see the stem that its supposed to go to,there is no sign of any linkage, and it doesent look like any has ever been there. The bike sat for about 5 years, and after cleaning the tank out, replacing the plugs,Battery, and oil/filter,she fired right up.Idled fine, and acceleration seemed to be normaL.
Guess my question is should I acquire the linkage, and arm and hook it up,or just figure that this is NOT a "U.S." bike?
I now have the carb bank off,and am in the process of cleaning them up.Just dont wanna have to pull them again.Suggestions PLEASE!

If it's running fine whats the harm in pluging off the conecting tubes between carbs (the tubes that would feed fuel from the A-pump to each carb nozzle) to make sure there is no vacuum leak?
My '81 Police C4 has the pump and required me to fabricate a check valve that was causing a slow fuel leak. If you remove the pump assy parts that are left I'd make sure the check valve for the number two carb is in working order.

OK..talked to the P/O today, and he said he probably put 2000 + miles on it,and it ran flawlessly.I figure to order a new accelerator pump diaphram(to stop the leak) and button it up.....
