1993 KZ1000P Won't Start was created by kzpbob
Stoked to have stumbled upon the holy grail of KZ. I'm new to the KZ BB, perhaps someone can help...
I purchased a 93 KZ1000P a few months ago as a n00b motorcycle hobbyist. I cut my teeth on cars for years and have been out of the game for a long time.
Previous owner had the carbs completely rebuilt two years ago, then parked her for over a year. When i got it i pulled the gas tank and cleaned it out, cleaned out float valve bowls, replaced fuel lines and vacuum lines and spark plugs before attempting to start. Compression is great on all cylinders and spark is good on all plugs. fuel fills main line through filter on prime. But she doesn't start.
Question: should the float valve bowls fill with gas when opening the throttle and attempting to fire her up? they don't so i'm assuming i am not getting fuel through the carbs and should pull them out and give a thorough cleaning. any suggestions as to what to check before undertaking the carb cleaning?
Any help for this n00b is greatly appreciated. i'm enjoying the journey thus far.
