I've got a friend who needs a set of carbs for his gs1000 and i've got a spare set of 26mm's.

Questions:
will they bolt on ok? (I think so)
jetting ideas (he has a kerker, pods)

I've got a similar setup on my kz1000 with 17.5, 112.5 mains and the clip lowered one notch from stock.

Would that work for a GS?

thanks

The VM26 carbs will bolt right up. The only issue is jetting. Rejet based on original jetting. Do the VM26 carbs have air or pilot fuel mixture screws? If they have pilot fuel mixture screws, the jetting you noted would be about right for pods/pipes on the GS1000. If they have air screws, the jetting will be lean.

The 26's have the fuel screws on the bottom instead of the air screws on the side. I appreciate all the help on these. It will help out my buddy. :)

Have him try #112.5 mains and #17.5 pilots. Keep the eclips at the middle (3rd) position for now. If he runs into a stumble off idle... or if the bike idles nicely but when you try and pull away it falls on its face, adjust the pilot fuel mixture screws out a half turn (easier to remove carbs). When setting them up initially, DO NOT SEAT the mixture screws... just get the tips flush with the openings in the venturis. Then back them out 1.5 turns. This method protects the tips and takes into account slight variations in the diameter of the pilot fuel hole which makes seating them somewhat inconsistent.
