My neighbor just got him a CSR twin that's needing a bit of work. Right now he has no air filter or air box...both damaged. Bike won't climb above idle hardly at all. If we put a finger or two over the bellmouths it runs a bit better, but we need to get it running proper.
He's got a set of Uni pods ordered. We installed 125 mains and that helped a lot. It idles nicely. But it won't rise above maybe 1/3 throttle. Just bogs.
Other than getting the filters installed, what would you guys suggest?

It won't run without air filters. I recommend a stock airbox, but the singles might work. Start with a 50 pilot and 125 main. Go up if too lean.

We got filters in...against my advice he picked up a set of Emgo pods...the funds for some good Uni or K&N's just wasn't there for him. I suppose it's just as well since none of my Uni or K&N filters would clear the frame. Anyway, we oiled them up and slipped them on with no change in the running. Anything over about 1/3 throttle...maybe close to half...she goes to burbling. Like hitting a rev limiter.
I grabbed an old pair of socks, doubled them over, and slipped them over the pods and suddenly we have the full operating range...so there's just not enough fuel. Top end may still be a bit lean, but we need to wait until I can do a plug chop. At my suggestion the socks are staying on.
This is with 48.5 pilots and 125 mains. I'm going to go with him in the morning to get a pair of 130's just in case.
Now it's just a matter of getting his new tires, sprockets, chain, fork seals, front brake, and speedo cables to working properly.

We ended up jumping up to 140's...thought it'd be better to go over and have to bring it back than go the other way around.
Still idles nice, and now she climbs in the RPM but we don't know yet really how it runs...no wheels or tires.
Thing is, though, no matter what we run it only runs if we wrap the filters in cloth. I guess there's just not enough vacuum.
