Open Air Filter
07 Jul 2011 19:48
I'm looking to remove the air box in my '82 kz750m1 csr, and put open air filters straight into the carbs. The bike has Mikuni BS34 carbs, but I don't know what size filters to use. Any suggestions?

Yes. Buy a handful of jets to go with them. :woohoo:

If u are real smart, leave the airbox in the bike, put a K and N filter in it, and leave the damn thing alone. If u are not so smart, put pod filters on it and spend the next 6 months trying to tune the bike so it will run 1/2 way decent. There are 5,469 threads on this forum regarding pods vs. stock airbox.Read some of them to see LOTS of opinions.bj

go to the 5th post
EDIT: sorry but the link disappeared for some reason?? Strange...

Anyway the part number is RC-0984 for the pods for 54mm ID connection rubbers on them. If you are not the type to like to tinker with the carbs then I wouldn't go this route either, just replace the rubbers if they are available still and go with a K&N in the box if you want (I don't think that the box type are worth the money and hassle of cleaning for the modest performance gains, but that is just me).
The is more you have to do to pod 34's, do a search here in the carb section or contact otokar here on the forum.

I have stock airbox because I enjoy spending my time riding the bike instead of tuning it. Go with the K&N airbox filter.
