Hey all. I am just looking for a little help in identifying some carbs that were given to me.
They measure 26.7mm at inlet. They have a vacuum nipple on #3 which I am assuming is for petcock shut off. They have 122.5 main jets, #15 pilot and have an air screw at front of body as well as screw underside on engine side. The needles are 5f21's. They are in really good condition so i am going to cleaen them up and put them on my '79 KZ1000 LTD. My kz has stock exhaust and airbox so will these carbs work as they are?

If they are VM26 carbs (and they appear to be), then they likely came from a 1976 KZ900 or 1977/1978 KZ1000. In 1979, Kawasaki went to VM28. I ran VM26s on my 1979 KZ1000B3 (sold the VM28s) and my bike ran fine. If you want to hotrod your 1979, then these carbs are not an upgrade :) You'll have to rejet appropriately.

I have the stock vm26's on my bike now with the accelerator pump. I am having a difficult time getting them to work properly. I am suspect of the pumps. I think the slides may be worn as well. I rebuilt them and still not working well. So I wasn't looking to upgrade just put something in that might be easier to set up and adjust. As well these new ones are from very low mileagee bike and are in great condition.

26's didn't have an accelerator pump,28's do.

With the plastic knob for idle speed I'd say Suzuki GS750/1000.
I have a set jest like them.
They will fit right up.

Awesome, thanks. Here I have been under the impression I had VM26's, oh well.
So the jetting as it is with #15 slow and 122.5 mains will be okay as a start for stock setup?
I was thinking as well I would start with fuel and air screws at approx 1-1/4 turns out. (That's where they were when I tore them down).

Turns out they are vm26's. Here's a quote from wiredgeorge "The LTD models in 79 initially used VM26 w/pump which were MISERABLE carburetors and impossible to tune and switched to 28s later in the 1979 model year for ALL KZ1000s"
So armed with that info I will definately swap them out.

You are correct, I always get the 1979 confused with the 1980 LTD, which did have VM28... :)
