If you close the pilot air screw (bike running) and open it the idle should drop quickly then come up again as you open the screw. If the idle does not drop, the pilot jets are possibly plugged or the carbs slides are are not open far enough on the cylinders that do not drop. Looking into the throat u will see that some slides are open more or less than others. The ones that are closed will not respond to air screw adjustments. When setting slides be sure not to drop them down when they really need to come up or ELSE! Youll be shutting off the air flow through the slide and the closed down slides will cause those cylinders to get less fuel. If u stick your finger over the air passage, the drop in rpm should be equal across the banks. Compression must be good of course. Rub graphite powder on all the moving parts to the linkage, its slippery and does not collect dust. If you are a red neck, blow through the engine side of each carb and youll feel any difference in air flow. That is the best vacuum gauge of all. HEY! wipe them off first. Or no more beer.
