I can't find my carbs!!! was created by Murdered07
I can't find them because they aren't there haha!!!
So, I have a 1980 KZ1000, that is in pretty rough shape ( and I don't really know anything about this bike). The carbs aren't even there!! I am going to be spending quite a long time getting this thing back to being able to run!!! I am looking for suggestions o what kind of carbs to get and where to get them from.. I would like this thing to be a beast when I am done, so what are some common upgraded carbs for more power. I would like to get this thing running like a champ before I start worrying about the cosmetics!!!

Well there are a few but it depends on your budget. The bike came with 28 pumpers more than likely, they will give you plenty of fuel to make power but the holy grail would be the 29's smoothies. Get a second job if you go that route. There are also others including 26's (less on top end), flat slides (aka: rattle slides) or you can do just about anything depending on how much work you want to put into it.

You could put some CV type carbs on it but I have a hunch there isn't an air box on it or you will be a pod candidate, if so just say no to CV's and you'll be a lot happier.

If it were me, I'd put either 28 pumpers or 28 non-pumpers on it, work out all the other issues the bike has then decide if I wanted to go up from there. They are pretty predictable and not as twitchy as the 29's or flats.

2006 ZG1000A6F (Totaled)
2001 ZRX1200R (Sold)

Awesome, thank you for the info, I am going to start looking into it. I can't wait to get into this thing. My current bike just got finished, so I am looking to add another project. This one will be a lot more indepth because it has sat since 1996. But the engine isnt seized, the only rust looks to be surface, but I havent gotten that into it so Im not for sure.. I originally thought about just trying to sell it as a whole, or part it out, but I think I decided against that. I love the stance and look of this thing, and would love to see it on the road again!!!
