Hi guys...Great site, full of info and a willingness to help novices like me!!! I'm in the process of a complete re-build of a GT-750 (KZ 750 P) 1984 Australian delivery model. The carbs are Mikuni but I dont know the compatable model with the American model bikes so as I can order a set of re-build kits. What is the equivilent model to this bike????? This info would be a real help as I need to order a heap of parts from an American supplier. Parts are rare here in Australia...Rare prices too. Thanks in advance guys. Safe riding! Andypandy.

If they are Mikuni from the mid-80s, then they are likely BS34. MANY bikes used those carbs from KZ750s to KZ1100s plus many Suzukis. They main trick here is to determine what main and pilot jets are being used and then cross match. They don't give you jet needles in most of the kits but may give you main jet holders and those are bike specific as well... Can you look at your carburetors and figure out what jets are stock?\

Many other parts in a rebuild kit will be kind of generic like the bowl gaskets and float needles. Again, figure out what jets you have and I will try and figure out which kit is closest to your needs.

To double check if your bike uses BS34's carbs, look at a Haynes manual for the z750. It covers the P model and should tell you which years have what carbs. Like WG said, you likely have BS34 in which case the rebuild kits are readily available. To answer your question, if they are BS34, then order the kits from a KZ750R1 = my bike, and I have BS34's.

Michael, Several models of the KZ750 use Mikuni BS34s as do the 82-05 cop bikes, as do the KZ1000J and the some of the KZ1100s. All have different needle jets, jet needles, air jets, main jets and pilot jets. That is why I didn't tell him WHICH part number to ask for. If he comes up with the main and pilot jet sizes, chances are the kit which has a needle jet (but probably no jet needle) will be decently matched to the other stuff in the kit. The BS34s were popular carburetors because they work so darned good. The model with the coasting enricheners diaphragms on the sides is really sweeeeeet!

Thanks guys. This forum is fantastic. I have purchased a GT 750 on ebay ($305AUS) and this bike has a decent set of carbs and all the other stuff I need like working brakes and the like. It seems a shame to have to strip 2 bikes to make 1, as i believe that these are great machines and will become more difficult to find in the future. I am trying to get my bike up and running for the summer here. No doubt I will be asking other silly questions as time goes on. Thanks again....Safe riding...Andypandy!
