140 mains seem to be a little much.what do the plugs look like??are they black and sooty looking.
Spark plug reading 101 center electrode (were you set the gap)will give you your main jet reading and the outter edge of the plug will be your idle circuit.

Input on what? Your ignition or the jet kit? First, the jet needles in your jet kit are the same ones that go in almost all the jet kits made for all models. They are not matched to the needle jets AT ALL. Also, there is NO middle slot on a DJ jet needle. They have six slots. Last, the main jet doesn't make much difference when "putting around". The pilot circuit is most likely the "putting around" part of the carb at work although I can't really gauge what the term "putting around" means. What throttle position are you talking about? RPM range? Since the DJ kit doesn't even give you a new pilot jet and you are in need of them, that is where I would start. Of course, I would also remove their jet needles and main jets to get the bike running right as well but that is just me.

your running lean at the needles, drop the clip one notch and youll be fine. If it still sputters on take off when its hot, go one size bigger on the pilot.
