what is a belt slider?

I'm restoring an '82 kz440D belt drive. I saw on ebay something called a belt slider, but have no idea what that is or what it does. anybody clue me in? thanks.

Might be overlooking, but not seeing a belt slider on the parts diagrams at kawasaki.com.

Just guessing, but belt slider might be what Kawasaki calls Belt Drive Cover,
Part# 14025-1381.

Hey Patton, that looks like it. Thanks. I would assume that the belt slides along the bottom of it. Guess I'll get the one on ebay (it's cheap) and figure it out later. Thanks
