1976 KZ900 Carb question? Jetting? was created by Onthewater2181
Hi
I am new to this forum and has been a great source of information. I am currently rebuilding a 1976 KZ900 that I got from my wifes uncle. I am almost completely there. I got the bike started and took it out for test drive. Here is a list of what I have done so far.
Cleaned carburetors
Adjust timing
install new plugs and wires.
installed new pod filters.
I am eventually going to be getting the vance and hines 4 into 1 exhaust. It currently has 4 into 2 now.
The bike is sluggish at times and has a slight popping noise when I let off on the throttle.
Could this be a issue with the pod filters?
And will I have to re-jet when I get the new exhaust?
Does anyone have this set up?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard. Pods will create performance problems unless you are willing to fiddle with the carbs long enough to find the magic combination of ingredients to compensate for the additional airflow. Even then, you may experience issues with rain, high wind, etc. I respectfully suggest you use the search function on this site and review any of the hundreds of postings describing the pros & cons of pods and tuning tips.
