78 z1r fuel valve was created by jvette65
just cleaned the carbs on my new z1r. fired up pefect. I cleaned the fuel tank and removed the 3way fuel valve. It turns very hard? what do I use to grease it? Main question,The 3way valve ''on position'' gets the fuel from an extention inside tank. the extention is aprox 5'' long. Is this right? it looks like there would be 5'' of fuel in the tank when i would switch to reserve. Do I have the wrong valve? Do I cut it shorter?

3 way fuel valve, you should have "RES" position. This will get the fuel from lower in the tank.
Z1 has petcock parts, www.z1enterprises.com/catalog.aspx?pid=KP441
Have a look or give them a call. A rebuild kit would be pretty cheap, or they could supply a new one. Also you maybe able to disassemble and clean it make it work smoother.

sounds like you have the right valve.can you post pics of it?you can disassemble your petcock and clean it but if you "grease"it the gas will remove any of the grease it can get to and send it into your carbs.probably a good cleaning and reassemble is your best bet.
