What is used to connect the air pump hose to the top of the air box?

I am removing the pods on the bike I just bought and the box only has a rubber grommet.

Should this be a PVC or just a barbed fitting?

The Kawasaki service manual doesn't show much.

its literally just a hose with an OD same as the ID of the grommet. its just run through the grommet about 3/4 to inch and it stays in. There arent any special fittings. I just deleted my smog pump. so if you need that hose i got it for ya.

Thanks for the info. I have the hose just wasn't sure if there was any type of barbed connection.

Are there any adverse effects from removing the pump?

Did you just put a filter on the valve cover?

Why not just remove the "Smog" system and use one of these block off plates.I like the TPO kit as it's got vinyl sealimg caps for where the hoses went.

You must block off the ports on the valve cover with plates like Mfolks mentioned (like his second link, but make sure they fit, not all bikes use the same size plates). Or you can just connect the two ports together with a hose.

It's not really an air pump, but performs the same function... it allows fresh air in the exhaust to continue burning after the gases leave the motor. It's just a valve. The vacuum from the intake controls whether the valve is open or not. Usually when it starts to malfunction, you get backfiring in the exhaust when decelerating.

Also, don't forget to cap off where the vacuum lines went to the intake ports as well.
