I bet yours are VM24 carburetors.so i have a 1978 kz 650 and im trying to figure out what model carbs i have. from some of the research ive done it seems this model came with 24mm carbs but mine appear to be bigger. possibly 26mm. i say this because when i measure the carbs with a dial caliper it measures just over an inch. 24mm would be just under an inch. ...
I'm guessing the measurement was taken at the engine side opening.
They should be measured on either side of the throttle slide inside the carb bore.
My VM24s are ~26mm at the engine side opening & 24mm near the slides.

The 24's and 26's have indentical top caps but the 28's have a flatter cap with only 2 screws instead of 3.

As long as there are no grooves on the taper they should be fine.
