carb or ignition ?

i have a gpz305 and it is acting like it is not getting gas in the mid range, i took the carbs off(cv) and found the pilot jet plugged so i cleaned everything and put it back together. same thing. the guy i bought it from said it needed a new cdi unit because it was only running on one cylinder but it is getting spark at both. and it will bog and then run , bog then run is the cdi the culprit? by the way i took the carbs off again cleaned them and blew out all passages i have seen with my own eys carb cleaner go forward and backward through all passages i am convinced they are clean.
what ideas?

2 things come to mind, ignition advancer and carb needle position.

Check the Ignition advancer, if still points, the gap/ dwell, timing.
Also did you check for vacuum leaks, bench set the float level when carbs were off? Bench sync the slides/ butterflies? If this is all good a running carb sync with a manometer might help.
Low voltage to the ignition coils can affect performance and starting, check that the voltage is close to battery volts, .5v difference or less is good.

:unsure: Is it known which cylinder is failing to combust during the bog?

:unsure: Are the diaphragms in good condition, no tears or holes?

:unsure: Strong steady pull at WOT with no bog?

IT NEVER REALLY GETS TO WIDE OPEN BECAUSE IT IS "SURGE" BOGGING

Starving for fuel? Possible petcock screen or valve issue? Do you run a inline fuel filter?

Did you check your ignition advancer, under the cover on the right side, there is also the points or pickup coils, timing and point gap all at the same service?
