MAIN JET REMOVAL was created by JARHEAD76
 Hi Guys, have a 1983 spectre 1100. removed carbs on rack, and was going to clean. I take off the main jet and washer but the jet has like a little slot next to it and if you look at slot there looks like a pin on the side that may hold it in. the thing is the buddy said to soak it and it should come out but the pin coming from the side sure looks weird. problem is its factory and that pin isnt coming out. unless I should soak and try to pull up on it. the carbs were filthy[jello] and when I put them back on bike it ran with half choke and spit on low idle. Sorry guys I know enough to get into trouble lol. any advice appreciated.

JH, The piece that the Main jet screws into is the needle jet (or emulsion tube if you prefer) & exits from the top, (beneath slide) the pin you are seeing aligns it in it's bore. the main jet & its washer hold it in place. easyest removal is a long screw w/same dia. & thread pitch as jet & tapping from float bowl area into venturi chamber. luck G
