Extended swingarm
04 Aug 2010 16:27
I've never extended a swingarm. I'm a fairly talented fabricator with equipment. Can anyone send me pics of the un-installed finished product so I can kind of copy it? I know I want to extend it. I used to watch the guys ride these bikes @ the dragstrip when I used to race cars and they are quick to go vertical...I don't want to go vert. May even ride around with wheelie bars...lol..
.. after all(to quote Kid Rock): It aint braggin' mother f&%#er if you back it up....I don't know....I do like to crank that throttle from time to time.

It'll go...or...It'll blow!

why reinvent the wheel (or wheelie as it were).Just buy one of the lovely Zuki GS1100 arms off FleaBay and section it if u need a longer arm.The stock GS arm gives u 2 more inches of length and drops the bike 2 inches.U can go from there.More work may be needed if u have a drum brake in the rear, but otherwise its a drop in swap.My bike with the stock GS arm will lift the front wheel a little on a hard takeoff but otherwise it is very stable.bj

Now, does that also provide for a wider wheel/tire combo?

Are any of the gs1100 swingarms chain-drive? My kz is an older chain-drive model and all I'm seeing for sale is shaft models.

With the right rim/sprocket combo you can squeeze a 180mm tire in there but most people stick with a 160mm tire on a 4.5" wide rim.
