I have a 77 kz1000 that is all stock and in very nice condition. i redid the top to fix all the oil leaks. i also reringed it. went for a ride today and it won't get out of its own way. will rev to 4000 and no more. takes off fine then falls on its face. carbs are all cleaned and new kits installed. stock exhaust and air cleaner. installed a new dyna s and coils and wires. if i move the choke it while going down the road theres no change. i installed stock size jets. float levels are set a little low but i dont thing its enough to be runnung out of fuel. bike also has a pingle petcock. thanks for any help on what to look for. thanks

OK, its not the float levels.
Make sure that the rotor (dyna s magnet), still advances and returns correctly, and that it is sufficiently lubed. Are you sure you timed dyna s correctly with light?
What were these kits you installed? You installed stock size jets, were they mikuni/keihin oem, or dynojet?

ignition is right on and advancing like it should. carb kits were k&l kits with stock size jets. going out to play with it some more.

Have you checked your' valve lash??? Intake at the beginning of the exhaust stroke, exhaust at the end of the intake stroke. then, whatever spec is...probably .008 intake .012 exhaust. Just guessing.

thought of cam timing, it is correct. head was just shimmed. plugs were black after a 1/2 mile ride. since i installed stock jet sizes i checked the needles and there on #4 groove(from the top. i am dropping thenm to #2 groove. now the question. looks like the spring and shims might be in the wrong place. there is a thin plastic shim under the clip and a thick plastic shim on top of the shim. the spring is under the clip so its pushing the needle up. shouldn't the spring be on the top pushing the needle down? carb parts diagram dont show the small parts. thanks

Stock airbox/filter and exhaust...
Stock jetting should be close to perfect.
15 or 17.5 pilot will work air/mixture screw adjustment.
107.5 Main is fine.
Your needle clip position is middle/#3 stock,
assembled in this order:
With this setup it should pull fairly hard right to WOT/high speed/rpm.
May as well check the fuel levels anyway, but it sounds to me like an assembly or ignition issue.

running pretty good, there is a stumble at 4000 rpm. when crusing and accelerate its real lazy. going to play with the needles. jets are 17.5 and 105 main. fuel levels are ok.
