Fuel petcock repair kit
30 Jul 2010 14:47
My fuel petcock isn't operating correctly. I purchased a fuel petcock repair kit from Z1 enterprises. Is it easy to rebuild the fuel tap? (It looks like I'm just replacing rubber gaskets).

Besides proper functioning of internal parts, vacuum is also required (via tube from carb to petcock when engine is running) for fuel flow through petcock in either PRI or RES position.
The tube from carb to petcock should not be kinked or have any cracks. If in doubt about its integrity, just replace it with a brand new tube.
Before rebuilding, I would remove petcock from fuel tank in order to also clean the pick-up screen that fits up inside the tank.
And also a good idea to flush out the fuel tank with fresh gasoline to remove loose dirt/grit/crud, which helps prevent rapid re-clogging of pick-up screen.
Good Fortune!

The fuel tank was recently coated internally. The pickup screen was cleaned, but I think I'm going to have my mechanic deal with this rebuild.

I love to throw money away. I'm not too mechanically incline. I can barely ride the bike. I'm usually the passenger. I pay someone to ride the bike, I ride on the back.
