28mm late model carbs (1975) was created by toad
I recently purchased some 28mm carbs, but they came without the vacuum tee's,right above the fuel tee's between #1-2 carb and between #3-4 carb.Is there a way to plug these off or do I have to disassemble the carbs to put new tee's in?

Which model 28mm carbs? Pic?

Perhaps referring to the float bowl vent tee's --- not "vacuum" tees.

Float bowl venting is required to prevent so-called "vapor lock" and the vents should not be plugged.

Typically, vent tubes run from the tee's until exiting to open air underneath the seat or underneath the bike or wherever otherwise routed.

Without the tee's and tubing, the bowl venting is still there, but more exposed to, and thereby unprotected against, water/dirt intrusion.

Good Fortune! :)

Sorry I'm having troubles with pics, but they are a 1975 28mm carb,(2170) the ones without the 17mm nut on the float bowls, and only 2 screw tops.

Each of the two vent tees appears to have a nipple on one side for a short hose between it and a nipple on one carb.
Other side of same tee has no nipple and appears to fit directly onto the other side carb. (See image below.)

There might be enough play to fit each tee/hose combo into position without much if any loosening of a carb or carbs from the mounting plate.
But it might be necessary to loosen one or more carb mounting(s) to gain some wiggle room.

What is source of the replacement tee's?

Good Fortune! :)

I really don't know where to get them yet but I do have the older style 28's with the 17mm nut. I wonder if they are interchangeable. If these are just vent tee's can't I just run as they are?thanks for the help..
cheers

I suspect the vent tees are interchangeable between the early and later model Z1 carbs.

Without the tee's and tubing, the bowl venting is still there, but more exposed to, and thereby unprotected against, water/dirt intrusion.

Best not to use a water hose in the carb area, and not ride in the rain or dusty areas.

Good Fortune! :)

Part #16046-003

Was only used on the Z1's. OEM is unavailable and I didn't see anything on Ebay. Maybe there's an aftermarket alternative?
