Could test run without pods to determine whether pods are blocking entrance to pilot air passage.

Patton.. How does certain pods block the entrance to pilot air passage?

I don't run pods, but have seen several threads here on KZR where reportedly some cheap pods (not K&N) on some carbs managed to partially obstruct the small entrance hole to the pilot air passage.
That's why it might help diagnosis to test run without the pods.

well that could be why i dont get much change in my air screw. i just cleaned my carbs really good. paying special attention to the pilot air circuit.
i get rough idle when i screw them out to about 2 turns and when i close them all the way down. but in between not much change.
looked at the the nice K&N air pods but damn 150 Bucks. thought it might be just as well to buy an airbox.
been watching ebay. i dont have any of the airbox parts. bought the bike with pods. the cheepest of pods. im not sure what to do. going to get the valve clearances squared away first. then check my compression. check my voltage to coils. get all that right and go from there.
thanx for all the help.

Where pilot screw adjustment fails to change rpm, there's likely something still wrong inside the carb.
If this method hasn't already been tried for cleaning pilot circuit, it might succeed where others have failed.
