installing rebuilt carbs: air box on or off? was created by kz.chris
I'm about to install "new" carbs into my bike and im wondering if i should put the airbox back on for the initial startup or do i leave it off so i can spray starter fuel into the carbs?
Also, any recommendations before i go fire her back up?
thanks

NO STARTER FLUID. Thats what the gas is for.
Yes airbox. It provides the necessary resistance/filtration for the proper operation of the carbs.
Make sure EVERYTHING is air tight!
If everything is correctly setup, the bike will come to life very easily. Full choke, depress starter and bang, she'll roar to life.

With carbs rebuilt & jetted stock you will think you have some major problems if you run them without the airbox, as in it will barely run at all.

also, you probably wouldnt be able to get the airbox back on without taking the carbs off again
