Can't see in the photo, are you running pods?

If not, sounds like you need larger main jets and possible to lift the needles a bit to compensate for the extra air going through the new headers..

ADD: I just noticed those look like straight pipes. You will need a ton more main jet and get used to the idea it will never run right again.:P

Does your bike have the mechanical ignition advancer? Look on the right side of the engine for a CD sized cover. The advancer is secured to the end of the crankshaft, it advances/retards the timimg by using weights and springs.

To check it(with the engine off), give it a twist, if it does not return, remove it, and clean/lubricate it with some 3-in-one or sewing machine oil.

If the advancer works ok, check the sparkplug wires, sparkplugs and sparkplug caps.

Whenever we added Headers to our bikes, the first thing we did was drill holes in the air-box under the seat. When the exhaust is free-flowing, then your carbs are sucking more air, more air equals more fuel. When you down shift (using the engine as a brake) it shouldn't pop. If it pops when you down shift, then you need to go up one jet size. A good mechanic can drill it out - but let them do it. don't go crazy on the jets. Good Luck.

allright thanks alot guys im going to take it to a local motorcycle shop to have them do it and yes its straight pipe because "loud pipes save lives" and it definatley noticeable

so just drill into the top of the air box to allow more air?

i was also wanting to run single air filters on each carb for looks but would that help out with the air flow as well?

Try drilling holes in the airbox first and see what it does. I'm willing to bet it runs fine.B)

my bike does the same but at 4-4.5k when I roll on throttle to pass someone. It hesitates bad then it just launches when I go past 3/4 trottle.

Im gonna go through the carbs at some point and post whats in there.

Open pipes and pods usually would indicate more air then gas so running too lean on the needle size at mid range....

You can try a richer clip position on the needles first but best guess at the moment (not enough info such as idle and main operation states as well as plug conditions), change to richer sized needle...

Here... everything you need to know/learn about carbs....;)
