Fuel line routing question was created by KB02
Okay, so i am starting to work on my '80 550 and am too impaient for the manual to get here (I'm sure the question is answered in there somewhere, but the boook is in the mail).
When I got he bike, the tank was off as were the carbs. I am just trying to figure out where tubes go to hook up the tank. As you can see in the first picture, there are two outlets on the petcock. Outlet #1, I am asuming, is the main fuel line? What is outlet #2 for?
On the inlet picture, it is a shot of the space between #3 & 4 carbs. Inlet #1 I am assuming, again, is for the main fuel line? Inlet #2 is a short t-fitting between Carbs 3 & 4 and has a counter part on carbs 1 & 2. What are these for? Air/overflow vents?
AND, inlet #3. This is the one that confuses me the most. There is only this one on carb #4. I notice that the Petcock has a prime position. Is this for the primer? Does Outlet #2 on the petcock connect to inlet #3 on the carbs?

The larger, (bottom when tank is mounted, #2 in your pic) outlet is the main fuel line. The smaller one (#1) is a vacuum line.
On your carb, I know the one you have marked #1 is the main fuel line. One of the others well go to the vacuum line on the petcock, but I'm not sure which one. Mine is a 440 so it is a little different. I'm sure someone else will post what they got to here very soon.

I'm not really sure but those may be vacuum ports for the emissions control stuff on the 80 550. I will take a look at my bike and get the manual out to see if I can figure it out. You may also want to go to buykawasaki.com and look under "owner information" they have some pretty decent parts diagrams there that may help. Ride safe neighbor!
