Seems like a dumb question, but I'm a little stuck. Bike is a 82 GPz750 with Mikuni BS34s. I ordered 4 carb rebuild kits from Z1. They got here today so I went to install them but have a question. I'm guessing the green arrow is pointing to the pilot jet plug and the red arrow to the o-ring that goes with it. I tried putting the plug in with the o-ring on the end and it doesn't seat well. Seems like the o-ring is too big. I believe the other plug is for the idle mixture screw on top of the carb.

Thanks
Nick

No it is for the Pilot jet, it plugs the area where the jet screws in. Forcing the pilot jet to pick up fuel from the main jet well.

It turns out I have one of the old pilot jet plugs I pulled out before I cleaned the carbs. It's similar in size to the plug I pointed out. It seems like I need a really small o-ring to go on it that's not in the kit.

I bought 4 of the smallest metric o-rings that my local Napa had. These worked great and I was able to seat the plugs in the pilot jet holes.

personally the only part ive ever needed to replace in a set of carbs unless they were completely trashed was the gaskets or an occasional float which never comes with kit anyway.
putting chap stick on both sides of bowl and top gaskets helps keep them from sticking so they can be reused in my experiance anyway B)

Still recovering, some days are better than others.
