checking fuel service levels was created by fat z
Gotta question, might be stupid but i need to know. when you use the clear tube method to check fuel levels, where exactly does the top of the tube need to be. does it need to be level with the bottom of carb body, or does it need to be higher up. i got the tool off of ebay and its just a plain tube with no markings. the directions say what the level should be but not where to hold the top of the tube.
thanks and as always your help is greatly appreciated.

Exact position of clear tube isn't critical, so long as it's held steady while fuel enters and fills the float bowls.

I hold the tube against the edge of the carb (not away from the carb as shown in the pic.).

The fuel level inside the clear tube will match the fuel level inside the bowls.

Good Fortune! :)

Liquid seeks its own level so just be sure the open end of the tube is higher than the top of the carb bowls or fuel will run out. Ed

Hold the tube high up beside the carb body.
Open the drain screw or whatever it is you open on your bike to allow fuel to flow.
Let the fuel seek it's own level.
Lower the tube a little & check the level again.
If you raise the tube after opening the drain screw, start over... That's what my manual says.
