Mikuni Carbs idle mixture screw was created by slow1
Have and 82 KZ750 CSR that will not run unless choked. Dissassembled the Mikuni carbs and cleaned except I could not find an idle mixture screw and I suspect that is what needs to be cleaned. Not unusual for it to be covered with a plug of some sort but I cannot figure out where it is. Manual shows a screw but again I cannot find it.
Can someone post a picture or description of its location? Or am I missing something.

If the carburetors in the picture I attach match what you have, see the following image. Part 16014 in the second image is the mixture screw you are looking for.

Okay, that looks right. Is the best way to remove cover to drill and then screw in a sheet metal screw or tap to remove?

That I cannot help you with. Here in Canada our bikes never had the plugs so I haven't had to try to remove them.
The plugs I got with a rebuild kit were pretty thin (maybe 1/16") and made of aluminum. I am not sure how much clearance you get between the plug and the screw though.
Someone may be along later today with a tip.

Dynojet kit comes with drill and sheet metal screw

Could do it this way:
Put a tube over drill bit allowing minimal point exposure to barely penetrate the plug without damaging pilot screw.
Screw in metal screw minimal amount to grip the plug.
Plug need not be replaced. It's sole purpose in life is to discourage us air-polluting U.S.A. reprobates from messing with the pilot mixture.
Good Fortune!
