Missing Airfilter Frame - Any work arounds?

Hi all.

I got an '82 750 Spectre, as a gift, a few months back. I'm trying to get it on the road now. I got a new stock oiled foam filter. I go to put it in and realize a) the old filter is not even there but b) the air filter frame is missing. I looked on eBay and didn't see any. Is there some type of work around for this that doesn't involve switching to pod filter? Just wondering if maybe I could switch to a replacement K&N or some type of pleated filter (that will keep its shape) and then wouldn't need filter frame.

Any help is appreciated.

Here's the parts diagram.

He probably needs the element holder for the filter element. You might try searching the part number at ebbaayy. Also, a UniFilter element may still be available. Alternatively, I'd guess that a pleated filter would be suitable. Check Z1Enterprises.com - I like to search there by model. The air filter would be in the maintenance section. Good luck.

The part I am missing is 13091A - its the filter frame. I have a foam element and need that frame.

What I'm wondering is can I just use a pleated filter and then not need the frame? I've looked and didn't find one on eBay.

Thanks for the responses!

Okay, the frame that fits inside the foam element and holds it in shape. Part No. 13091-1147

According to kawasaki.com, the part is no longer active.

It's listed at
speedsupplies.com/partslisting.asp?posit...ment=500&category=KW
13091-1147 HOLDER, ELEMENT $10.53
I see no reason a pleated filter wouldn't do just fine, provided it fits without any air leaking around it when fitted into place. Locating a suitable size pleated filter may be a challenge.

Wondering if the part is metal or plastic or ??? and whether feasible to construct a serviceable homemade part.

Good Fortune! :)

This may fit, as it's the paper filter on bikes the K&N is supposed to replace.

Could ask the good folks at Z1E about it.

Or just roll the dice and order it. :woohoo:
