Confirm no needle settings on an '80 KZ650E?

I was going to post looking for how to pull the needles out of the carbs on my 80 kz650e so as to change the clip setting. I searched a little and it looks as if there isn't any other setting available? Can someone confirm this for me?

So I'd need to get bigger jets? It's got pods on it now.

Thanks,
Bryan

I'm sure that'll be helpful even though it's an 81 manual. Assuming the manual is the same for an 80 than it says that there are no setting for the US model.

Where does that leave me? Bigger main jets? The bike has had pods put on it and I'll be putting some, more than likely, freer flowing mufflers on it cause they are mismatched now. I'm not sure the idle jets but the mains were 97.5. I've got the air screws at either 1 turn out or 3/4 turn out and that seem to have the low end and part throttle pretty good. Pops when I'm decelerating. Feels like it could use some more fuel when I'm at wider throttle openings and if I whack it all the way open it pretty much just refuses to accelerate at all. I thought I read that the air screw affects all the circuits though so should I be looking at fattening up both the mains and idle so the air screw can be closer to two turns out as suggested?

Thanks,
Bryan

If you have the VM's on it the carbs should have adjustable jet needles. The carbs off my '80 KZ650F had VM's that you could change the clip postion.

Even if the needles have only 1 clip slot, you can shim the needles, as they sell needle shims. Also there is a chart from Mikuni where you can buy a richer needle, cheaper than a needle jet. Order some mains as well, trail and err with lots of spark plug readings.
