Carb hoses hook up?

Hello,

New member here. Picked up a 1983 KZ550 ltd with driveshaft a few months ago and I'm in the process of getting it ready to get back on the road (parked for 10 years). It's in good to average shape, with the tank being a bit beat up: paint flaking a bit and one dent.

I've cleaned the carbs, and can't remember/figure out how to hook up a couple of fuel lines.

The ones at the very bottom of each bowl are for overflow and just face down the ground. The one just above is the main fuel line and hooks up to the tank, right?

There is two small rails, one attaches to carb 1-2 and the second one to carb 3-4, about 6inches long, but I just can't figure out what they do or where they hook up?!?

You'll have to forgive me for not using proper terminology, I'm not a mechanic... obviously.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yup, they help. Thanks for the pics, these are great. It is the part #92059 and #92059A in that last pic that I can't seem to remember where to hook up. By this I mean that I can plug them back on the rail of the carb (as shown in pic), but where does the other end go? In the air box?!?!? Any idea??

In this first one, only one of the 4 tubes sticking out has a line in it; does this look right to you guys?




In this second one, my original question: where do I hook up those two fuel lines in red (are they vacuum lines?!?)?

You have a single primary fuel rail (the lower/larger bridged hoses).

The ones you highlighted that are on the smaller/higher rail are carb bowl vent tubes, and yes, they usually connect to two small nipples on the stock airbox.

Your first picture is correct for a vacuum operated petcock setup, which is what that line connects to.
