Inital starting problem was created by Nats82
Hi Forum,
I have a 82 550ltd. At starting, the choke must be on. Once the bike is started it idles rough I have to keep playing with the choke. After about three minutes or so, I can close the choke, but can't throttle up or it wants to die.
After a whopping five minutes or so, the idle smoothes out a bit, and after all this the bike runs great. It does seem to be running just alittle lean, so I'm not sure this is some of the problem on inital start up or not. It seems to me it shouldnt take quite that long to warm up, and get the idle and responsive throttle. Any input from the forum would be greatly appreciated.

Once you have been riding around on the bike for a while (30+ min.), adjust your mixture screws.
Turn them 1/4 per a couple seconds, at a time and listen to the idle.
When the idle drops, stop. Then turn it the other way, counting the # of turns till the idle drops again.
Put the screw back half the number of turns. Directly between the idle drops.

If you start turning the screw and the idle jsut keeps going up and up and doesnt drop till the screw is either seated or all the way out. Then you may have an air leak, or a bleeding enrichener circuit.
