Hey to all, I just bought a 1981 KZ750 in pretty good shape. It has a beautiful chrome Vance & Hines pipe and 2 oval shape pods that cover two carbs each. The plugs are really light color and it didn't seem to be jetted right. I took the float bowls off and found a surprise! Whoever was in these carbs before should take up basket weaving or something! This thing had 3 different size secondary main jets in it. From left to right, carb 1 had a 125,carb 2 had a 137.5, carbs 3 and 4 had 130's. The mains appear to be 65's but they are really buggered up. I did manage to get them out though! Is there anyone with a similar setup that could put me in the ballpark on the jets. Reading a few back posts the general consensus was 140's and leaving the 65's alone. Does Z-1 have the keihin jets? Thanks for any suggestions!

#130 would be a good start.Make sure the needles are all on the same clip spot,if they are adjustable. If the other jets are chipped up,you would be better off replaceing them to make sure fule flow isn't hampered.AND also make sure there aren't any air leaks or missing vacuum caps.

I have a 1980 750 E1 with 4 into 1 Mac exhaust and 4 K&N pods.

When I bought it it had 135 and 62 and ran pretty good. I have since gone up to 140 and 70 and think it's bit better. You might not need to go that far but hopefully this will get you in the ballpark.

I'm thinking your carbs are Keihins ? If so then you can get jets for about $2 each. They dont list the samller jets but if you email them or call you can usually get them.

Hope this helps.
