Hello all,

I need some assistance, I recently purcahsed a Dyno Jet kit Stage 3 for a 1984 set of gpz 750 carbs. I have done all the needful but I cannot find the air fuel mixture plug to drill? I found a brass plug close to the area the instructions state, is this it? AM I missing something?

Please see attached pic.

You are looking at the wrong side of the carb. You drill out those brass plugs and you are screwed. Look at the top of the carb not at the bottom.

I really hate "Dynojet. they are listing your kit as for Keihin carbs yet you have Mikuni carbs. Yet when you buy the stage one kit for the exact same bike they show it for the Mikuni carb which is correct. Someone there has their head up their ass. They do that for a bunch of different bikes not just yours. Basically you have the wrong instructions for that carb. who knows if they even put the right parts in the kit, because the needles for the Mikuni and Keihin are totally different. 21**.*** kits are for Keihin and 23**.*** kits are for Mikuni. It seams like someone at Dynojet has no idea of what carbs are on what bike.

I also noticed that you are putting these carbs on a KZ650. This bike will have totally different draw than the stock GPZ750 which these kits are designed and tuned for. If you can i would return this kit and jet these carbs for your bike the right way because they will be jetted wrong with this kit/bike combo.

If you look at the instructions for these kits, they tell you exactly what alterations these kits are designed/tuned for. Once there are any other differences than what is listed on the instruction sheet, all bets are off. When I called them and asked them what I would require for my bike with such and such alterations (such as different cams and ported head they said that none of their kits would work for my bike even though my bike was listed on their sheet. If you can, return the kit. We can help you jet this thing right and it wont cost you $125

Thanks for all the info. I am doing the GPZ Mod Faq on my 1978 KZ650. SO far I have polished and ported the head, milled .025 and have gpz carbs boots . THe Pistons are over sized and I have put in a set of 1884 GPZ cams and carbs.

I have got the bike running but not good. I bought the jet kit mostly for the adjustable needles. 93 dollars was a lot of money just for needles.....I ordered the kit from Z1 enterprises, and it appears to be the right kit.

I am thinking that this bike should be a running beast when completed but I cant get this thing to run right. I think i t has to be a carb issue......?

Thanks.

That is exactly what you did is paid $93 for a set of needles. As I said before unless this is a 738cc engine with a GPZ stock head, you will have to change everything els. Pull one of the needles and post a picture of it. This way we can tell you which grove to position the clip in. Drilling the slide vacuum holes is fine. That only affects the speed of slide reaction. Not how much the slide moves. Everything els we will have to work on depending on your symptoms. Now looking at the picture of your bike, find the needle screw as i showed you in the picture above.

THanks for all the help again. I think I figured out the problem, THe carbs still had the plugs over the pilot jet. I have bench synced the carbs at the spot you pointed out in earlier post.

THe Pilot jet needs to be adjusted to a certain spot? 1 and a half turn out maybe?

Or do you even have to adjust this?

THe bikes only problem is it is hard to start, with a little ether it kicks up.

I have the needle set right in the middle about the fourth slot down.

Thank you
