Hi guys,
I had my Kawasaki Z 400 rebuild a bit over the winter by a danish firm called Wrenchmonkess. They only worked on the looks and have done nothing to the enginge or carb.
Here is a picture btw:
www.billedeupload.dk/photo/2010-04/e4c5d5ec/z400.jpg
The other day it couldnt start though so i decided to take out the carburators and clean them.
I must admit that i dont have a clue to what im doing But i hope i can learn by doing
Anyway, when i opened up the carburators i could see that the little rubber thingys (i think they are called PILOT PASSAGE PLUGS) where in very very bad shape. One of them fell totaly apart when i took it out.
I guess some of the other stuff in the carburators could also be in bad shape. so i guess it would be a good idea to replace as much as possible.
But is it possible to buy some sort of carburator rebuild kit? And if so, where would be a good place to buy it online?
And does the pilot passage plug come with such a kit?
So far i have just been following the Clymer repair handbook. Is there a better 'carb-guide' somewhere on the internet?
And finally, is there anything i should be aware about?
Here is a picture of the thinghy i think is called pilot passage plug:

And what is theese rubber thinghys in the picture called if i want to buy replacements (if its even possible to find repacements):

I really hope some of you guys in here can give me a little push in the right direction
And sorry about my english.
Thanks.
regards
Martin

a freind of mine just pulled his carbs on his cb750 f apart and the rubber plugs had completly disolved so what we did is get a piece of doweling the same diameter and cut them the right lentgh and epoxied them in to place we used 5 min epoxie so if we ever have take them apart agin it will be fairly easy. worked great. i figured that outfit was all about the look very depressing.
