bs34 carbs rev with or without choke on was created by 78kaw1000A
I have a 78 kz1000a that has always ran great.I just put a set of bs34 carbs from an 82 kz1000 i bought on ebay.I cleaned them put new mikuni jets in them size 140/42.5 they have the plugges in for the pilot jets. The problem i am having is when you crank up the bike it revs up to 5000 rpms.If you put the choke in it still revs to 5 or 6 thousand rpms. I have tried to rev it up hoping it would make rpms drop to idel speed but still stays reved to 5000.I run vance & hines open exhaust and emgo pod filters. When choke is closed it still wont drop to idel speed. if you hit kill swich it shuts down like it shoud.I am pretty good at working on carbs but this one has got me, any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

check the free play in the cables you need at 1/8 " and also check that the idle adjuster is making contact the throttle cam. and if it is and the cable has enough slack start backing the adjuster out.
