Keihin CV34 pilot screws?

As far as I can tell, backing these screws out adds more gas, not more air....right?

Its the other way round. Backing out lets in more air. The spec is about 2 turns out from lightly seated

Doesnt matter what carb you have...
If the adjustment screw is on the front half of the carburetor (closest to engine), then it is a mixture control screw. Its pre-mixed fuel and air, from the pilot circuit. Unscrewing it (counter clockwise), richens/more mixture, closing it (clockwise), leans/less mixture.
If the screw is on the back half of the carburetor (closest to air filter/box), then it is a pilot air control screw. It controls the amount of air that enters the pilot circuit prior to mixing. Unscrewing it (counter clockwise), leans/more air, closing it (clockwise), richens/less air.
There are very few carburetors in the world that differ from this standard.
To verify, turn all your air screws out say 2+ turns and start the bike (you may need to increase idle). Let it run for about 2-3 minutes off choke, then stop and pull the plugs.
If they are darker/sootier, then you have richened the mixture. If they are whiter/lighter, the you have leaned the mixture.
Generally CV carburetors have mixture screws, directly in front/above the venturi. Slide carbs tend to have air control screws...

I can confirm TeK's assessment. The CV34 has pilot mixture screws. Clockwise rotation decreases fuel (leans), counter-clockwise increases fuel (richens).
