Changing jets? was created by polkat
I have a KZ750H3 750-four. I was thinking about changing the jets in my CV34's and running pods, but, while I'm pretty good with auto carbs, I've never worked on the CV's. How difficult is it to change jets (I don't see much about it in my manual)?
Also, how does one determine what jets to use for a given increase in airflow?
Thanks!

pull the bowls off and look for the big jet in the middle of the carb body that is your main take screwdriver in hand and remove then reinstall proper size. see pretty basic right.

While locating the main jet is pretty basic, re-tuning the carburetors for pods is not so straight forward. It will require more than just a change in main jet size. Be prepared to also replace and calibrate the needles.
Re-tuning usually takes a considerable amount of time and experience. Sparkplug reading and seat-of-the-pants testing are the main ways of dialing the carbs in unless you have access to a dyno with exhaust gas analyzer. If you do have a dyno, I would recommend testing the engine before removing the air box and then after removing it. Let us know the difference in torque/power. Might not be much and low end torque (where it's needed most on a street bike) might actually decrease...
