Zx600 carbs on a KZ650? was created by wompy5000
Has anyone tried this?
So I bought a keihin cvk 32mm carb set from a 1989 zx600 for $30 (complete & clean on the inside). The spacing isn't right but I can machine new rails, fuel connectors and manifold adaptors. I can make this fit, no problem. Carbs working right for my setup ,well?
I am currently starting a top end rebuild which will include mild porting, wiseco 700cc pistons and kz750 cams.
Does anyone have any insight on these carbs? Do they have to be tilted like newer ninjas? Where can I get different size jets? Any help or encouragement is welcome. No pessimists unless you really think this setup won't work.

if they are from the zx 6 not the 600 ninja then they are semi down draft carbs they need to be tilted, the 600 ninja uses side draft carbs.

I run the vm24's on my 700cc engine, however I have a 650 head that I did a bit of port work on. The 24's have no probelm delivering, aside from maximum top end preformance. Infact WG (Wierd George Carbs) told me I could expect better off-the-line and midrange from them then larger carbs. The 650 carbs went through iterations in the later years leaning them up for emissions standards. When set up right and jetted with disregard for emissions they will make plenty of power. If you want total top end break HP then larger carbs will be the way to go.

I have no idea how those carbs are supposed to be mounted but I have worked with cv carbs before, there may be an issue with proper vacuum for these in your set-up. But if the older BS carbs can be made to work I would think those could.

Dennis kirk has
them too, just search CV carbs. Bought from them before.

If I knew what I was doing all the time life wouldn't be any fun.
