Updating Carb system!!! was created by jacosort1
Well, this long Minnesota winter is driving me crazy. so i got a project to keep me buisy!
I am currently working with a 1976 kawasaki kz400. Mostly stock besides and aftermarket exhuast kit (2 into 2). BUT, i would like to run an oversized carb set up, and my question is - WILL IT BE POSSIBLE TO RUN A 38MM CARB OFF OF A 1978 YAMAHA XS650, ON MY KZ400? and also if it is possible will it be worth my time to do?

I would have to say NO, Theres no way that your intake would flow enough for carbs that big. A 900 stock would have a hard time with those I would think but some one with mors knowhow should chime in. By the way where in this cold state are you. BobB)

The 74'-76' 400's ran 36mm with the later ones going to 32's. The yamaha ones probably will not have the proper spacing, also the spacing is different between the early and late 400's and will not interchange. Oh and by later I mean 1977 and newer with had a slightly different engine

CVB36's from a 74'-76' kz400 will fit. They have a metal slide so you do not have to worry about a rubber diaphragm going bad. Z1 enterprise has carb kits for them once in awhile. They are kinda a pain to clean with lots of little jets and air bleeds all over the place but quite do-able
